consejos-sommelier-parte-2A few days ago we published the first piece of this article, where our Frontera sommelier, Gabriel Salas, recommended us his favorite pairings.

Next, we invite you to read about interesting pairings for our Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Rosé, Merlot and Moscato. Enjoy!

Sauvignon Blanc
If there is something that Peruvians prepare extremely well is ceviche. But real ceviche: with corn, coconut milk, a croaker that was swimming less than 24 hours ago, with the tasty red onion chopped in small pieces and all adorned with chilli pepper. With this dish we need to reduce that delicious fire in our mouth. The best option is our Frontera Sauvignon Blanc: fruity, delicate, with good acidity and refreshing. (more…)

Wines & desserts: Sweetening your palate!

Published under Tips to enjoy

postre-y-vinoWe often hear that red wines are the perfect pairing for red meat and whites for fishes or seafood. So, when we think in wines we are used to relate them to salty food. But did you know that desserts are also a great combination for wine?

Not just any dessert can be paired with any type of wine: Sweet wines are needed and in Frontera we have two ideal alternatives for desserts.

Cabernet Blush
This pale and bright wine has the characteristic of being sweet, but not cloying, because it doesn’t have much residual sugar. “It’s quite refreshing, with a good degree of sugar and has a likeable color,” says Gabriel Salas, sommelier of Concha y Toro. (more…)

Rosé wines, ideal for special occasions

Published under Tips to enjoy

roseRefreshing, light and casual: Rosé wines are ideal for special occasions, ideal to celebrate with friends on a terrace or sitting beside a pool.

Our Frontera Merlot Rosé is part of this group and is characterized by its intense and attractive color.”This wine is a process in which de-stemmed grapes are pressed immediately and then, by fermenting the resulting juice, is obtained much more color than other forms of production,” says Gabriel Salas, sommelier of Concha y Toro.

Rosé wine is especially preferred by consumers in some specific countries, as France. ” It is especially consumed in the Mediterranean coast, where summers are very hot,” says Salas. Also, women sometimes prefer it over other wines, for purely aesthetic reasons: its color.

What about pairing? Rosé wine is an excellent alternative for those who do not like white wine. Gabriel Salas recommends pairing it with salads: “Today the trend is to prepare salads that includes fruits such as grapefruit, pineapple or mango. Also fish or crustaceans, and different types of vegetables.” On the contrary, if rosé wine is combined with red meats its qualities will not be appreciated, as it’s a very fresh wine and needs an equivalent pairing.
